SecureKote™ SB––
For 2007, Trelay will continue to
offer SecureKote™ SB. SecureKote SB is formulated specifically
for soybeans and includes a seed-applied insecticide and a
fungicide, as well as additional components. SecureKote SB
gives soybean plants added protection from insects, such as
bean leaf beetles and soybean aphids. Improved plant emergence,
plant health, better stands, and higher yields result from
soybean seed treated with SecureKote SB.
Order Trelay brand soybean seed with SecureKote SB. Determine the amount
of seed needed by multiplying the intended planting population by the
number of acres planted. Trelay will deliver the exact amount of seed
required due to our SoyCount packaging.

Processor
Preferred Groups

Tr elay brand soybeans designated as Processor Preferred
carry characteristics that may have more value for soybean processors.
Coupled with high yiled, the superior composition of high protein and
higher oil content can result in a higher return when marketing soybeans
to end-user processors. |
Soycount
Trelay has been selling soybean seed by the count for many years. Take
the guess work out of ordering soybean seed by multiplying your
acres by planting population. Then order the correct amount of
seed. No shortages or extra seed paid for that is not needed.
For 2007, Trelay will sell soybean seed as in 2006, with seed
size descriptions designating known packaging seed counts. By
example, a bag of "medium
large" seed will contain 140,000 seeds. |

| Germplasm Patent Notice––
If noted in the Soybean Chart that a patent has been granted
or is pending, the noted soybean is or will be patented.
Customers are licensed under these patents only to use the
seed to grow a single commercial crop of harvested product
for use or sale for food, feed, processing, or fiber. No
license is granted for further generation of seed or plants
for any purpose.

| Roundup Ready Trait
Patent Notice––
These seeds are protected under one or more of the following
U.S. patents Nos: 4,940,835; 5188,642; 5,352,605; 5,530,196;
5,633,435; 5,717,084; 5,728,925; 5,804,425.
The purchase/bailment/transfer of these seeds conveys no license under said
patents to use the seeds or perform any of the methods covered by these patents.
A license must first be obtained before the seeds can be used in any way. See
your seed sales representative to sign a Monsanto Technology/Stewardship Agreement.
Progeny of these seeds cannot be cleaned or used as planting seed or transferred
to others for planting. The seed may only be offered for sale and distribution
by authorized seed companies or their seed sales representatives. Before opening
a package of seed, be sure you read, understand and accept the stewardship
requirements for the biotechnology traits expressed in the seed as set forth
in the Monsanto Technology/Stewardship Agreement that you signed. By opening
and using the package of seed, you are reaffirming your obligation to comply
with the most recent stewardship. |
Pirating of seed
is defined as the use or sale of seed outside the legal structures
designed
to protect
inventors of improvements carried in seed. Seed is more than a kernel.
Seeds carry genetic and biotech components, which many times are
patented. The intent of allowing the patenting of seed was to encourage
plant breeders to develop improved varieties and, in the process,
get a return for their effort. This is the basis for the patenting
process, whether the invention is a new machine, design, or a new
process.
Two laws directly control the use of seed in the USA. The Plant Variety
Protection
Act of 1970––this law has been amended, but is the primary protection
for breeders releasing new varieties. A limited farmer exemption for saving seed
is part of this law, but has been restricted substantially through amendments.
Seed is also patented under the normal patent laws. These inventions are fully
protected with no exceptions. Farmers are not allowed to save seed from crops
in which a patent has been issued by the US government. Today, hybrids, biotech
traits, and breeding systems are being patented. This is one of the main reasons
new inventions, like Bt and herbicide resistance (Roundup Ready) are available
today.
At Trelay, our seed tags carry a statement restricting the use of the seed in
the bag to growing a crop only. Our delivery receipt outlines more detail on
the use of Trelay seed, such as patent numbers for Roundup Ready soybean seed,
grower agreement requirements, use of the seed for growing a crop only, and an
acknowledgement that failure to comply with the provisions of Trelay’s
Delivery Receipt could result in damages.
Seed carries more value than ever before. Protection of that value is a reasonable
approach by the owner contributing the value. Agriculture is simply entering
into the regular workings of patent protection and invention reward that has
been an integral part of establishing the USA as the leader in technological
advancement.
Plant new seed to assure compliance with patented seed products.
