Hybrid Seed Corn was an earthshaking invention in the 1930’s. Today, we are experiencing the quake of biotechnology. This year, we feature 17 YieldGard® Corn Borer hybrids and 10 Roundup Ready® Corn 2 hybrids, 12 Roundup Ready® Corn 2/YGCB stacked hybrids and 5 YieldGard® Rootworm hybrids, 7 Yield Gard Plus hybrids, 6 RR2/Yield Gard Rootworm and 7 RR2/YGPlus. More trait combinations will be coming in the future.

Trelay seed corn hybrids are conventional hybrids. Based on the concept of a “Mutual Fund of Genetics”, multiple sources of inbreds are combined to create one of the most diverse hybrid lineups in the seed industry. Our research dollars test many hybrids over a nationally operated testing program. Inbred development is expensive and carries the problem of using an in-house inbred if it is “as good as” a competitive inbred. At Trelay, we identify and market “the best” inbred combinations from many different genetic sources.

High Cycle Seed Systems feature value-added hybrids. Again based on national testing, High Cycle hybrids carry traits for insect and herbicide resistance. These miracle plants are patented to give inventors return on massive investments. Improved genetics are also available under the High Cycle brand.

At Trelay for 9 years, our answer to the need for additional research and marketing punch was the CORE Group alliance. This led to the establishment of the High Cycle brand on a national basis. On September 2nd, 2005 we furthered our commitment to the seed business by joining Monsanto's American Seed Inc. as a distinct operating subsidary. This change will allow us to keep the Trelay & High Cycle brands operating, offer improved products & traits while keeping our unique culture in place. To learn more click on Press Release.
